MUSKEGON (AP) — A man charged with murder in the death of a woman whose body was buried under a horse corral has been sentenced to 18½ to 55 years in prison.

Muriel Maples argued Monday in Muskegon County Circuit Court for a harsh sentence for Ronald Williams.

Williams pleaded no contest in August to second-degree murder in the slaying of her 32-year-old daughter, Bobbie Maples.

Bobbie Maples disappeared in December 2014, days after giving birth. Her body was found 13 months later near a Fruitland Township barn.

Williams was serving time for a drug-related conviction. He told investigators that he “administered” drugs to Maples and was present when she died.

Muriel Maples asked a judge Monday not to let Williams out of prison after 18½ years.
